FORSA Events

FORSA Events
FORSA run a number of events during the school year: some in order to raise funds for the school, others for the benefit of the wider community.

Year 6 welcome event
In September Rydon Community College holds a family transition event for its new pupils. Afternoon tea is served and games are laid on for the new pupils so that they can get to know each other better. Weather permitting there is a game of rounders for everyone to enjoy.

Remembrance Tea
The College also holds an annual Remembrance afternoon tea organised by FORSA. Representatives from the Royal British Legion, Royal Air Force Association and the local community are invited to attend. The children come along to serve refreshments and talk to the adults. They also entertain everyone with songs and poems and in turn hear stories and adventures of war time.

Rydon Community College Fireworks Spectacular
A new event in the Rydon calendar which was jointly organised by the School and FORSA. The Rydon Fireworks Spectacular has been an enormous success both within the school and the wider community. Aurora Fireworks puts on a superb display. The fields behind the school are filled with fun and entertainment for all the family. Rydon pupils run stalls with games and gifts for sale. FORSA provide hot food and drinks as well as beer and wine for the adults. A great night for all, and also a magnificent fundraiser for the school.

Rydon Community College Summer Fete
The Summer Fete normally takes place in June on the playing fields behind the school. There is fun for all the family, including games and a bouncy castle. Rydon pupils set up lots of lovely stalls and FORSA are there serving refreshments: teas, coffees cakes and ice creams.

School Discos
Normally 6 discos take place spread through the year. Discos start at 6pm and finish at 8pm. These are very popular with the Rydon children. The cost of admission is £3; pupils can also bring up to £1 to exchange for tickets to buy refreshments.
