Mobile Phones

We recommend that mobile phones are not brought to College as they are not essential. However, if you wish your child to bring one to College it must switched off and stored securely in the pupil's locker.

  • Mobile phones should not be used on 'school' transport and should be switched off during the journey. Using them on the coach could be distracting for the driver.

  • Pupils must realise that bringing an expensive mobile phone to college is a risk. Parents must realise that the loss or theft of a mobile phone is the responsibility of the parent or pupil, and not of the College. It is the responsibility of the pupil not to leave their mobile phone unattended in a bag.

  • All mobile phones brought to College should be clearly marked for security purposes.

  • From September 2012 specific subjects may ask for pupils to use their mobile devices to aid their learning. Parents will be informed of this by the planner and pupils must follow the guidelines of the teacher in using such devices eg no photographs or recordings of pupils or teacher to be taken.

A breach of the above points will result in the mobile phone being confiscated and parents contacted. Any social media abuse will result in a serious sanction eg fixed term exclusion.
